Powder Coater

We are a very well-to-do local manufacturing business that has been in business since 1968, bonded, licensed and insured. We are looking for a reliable full-time Powder Coater. Monday thru Friday and some Saturdays. We are looking for an organized, dependable, motivated, customer service orientated person that is ready to work. Framing and welding experience is helpful.


Prepares surface of components and large weldments to be powder coated by removing burrs, slag, spatter, rust, and scale. Hangs parts from racks, blasts, washes, dries parts, and applies an even coating of powder that meets company standards. A Painter and Prep person is also required to perform other miscellaneous tasks, as supervision deems necessary.

Required Skills
  • High school diploma
  • Clean driving record with current, valid NM driver’s license, and able to meet company insurance requirements
  • Mechanically inclined with a demonstrated ability to understand and work with common power tools
  • Excellent communication skills in person, telephone and written skills
  • Positive attitude with superior customer service skills
  • Safety minded
  • Punctual
  • Able to troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use digital calendars and time clocks from your mobile phone
  • Respectful, good demeanor, professionalism, organized, accountable is a must
  • Must pass a background and drug screening
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Must be neat and clean in appearance, professional
  • Follow both written and verbal direction, the ability to read AutoCAD plans
  • Be able to follow directions to determine what color parts get painted
  • Examines and feels surface for defects
  • Determine what process should be used when cleaning and hanging parts
  • Use a variety of hand tools and machines
  • Starts grinder and moves it over surface to remove scratches, excess weld material and burrs
  • Performs light maintenance and is able to make minor repairs to equipment used
  • Removes worn abrasive discs, wheels and belts and sharpen chisels and scrapers
  • Operates pressure washing machine to clean surfaces prior to painting or coating
  • Be able to move parts in and out of area
  • Bend/stoop, squat or kneel continuously-grinding, washing, painting, using sawhorses, table, or floor
  • Balance continuously-working around equipment and machines
  • Reach above shoulder level frequently
  • Carry metal parts ranging from 1 lb. to 25 lbs. continuously
  • Carry metal parts ranging from 61 lbs. to 100 lbs. occasionally
  • Climb occasionally-ladders to clean, wash, or paint large parts
  • Grip continuously-for tool use and parts handling
  • Ability to handle extreme temperatures
